The next day I woke up and went to my grandmother’s medical box. I suspected something was wrong after she had been gone for five consecutive days. She was in good health when I visited her but now she doesn’t remember what time we saw her. When I ask her what time of the day she was visiting her doctor she says “I don’t recall.”
Five days is too long for anyone to miss work. You will lose valuable time working with your doctor if you are unable to arrive on the first day because of an emergency. The first thing I did when I became a nurse practitioner was shift from being an attending physician to working at a specialty level. He required more schooling and specialized training than many doctors did however it fit in with my job and gave me more flexibility. He also had a medical degree, but refused to proceed to surgery.
The doctor had instructed her to never work ever again. Within hours of her accident she was taken to surgery. She passed away within 24 hours. The majority of medical school faculty members are doctors in their respective specialties.
Not all doctors can transfer seamlessly from attending medical school to becoming a surgeon or a general practitioner. Like not every driver has the mental capacity to drive intoxicated and not all doctors have the ability to recognize and treat the symptoms of a stroke right after the initial onset. It is crucial that doctors are experts in a particular area of medicine. For example when a doctor wants to become a cardiologist, he must be interested in issues related to cardiovascular health.
It has been suggested by a few that it is okay for a doctor’s focus to be his or her research on the less exciting aspects of medicine. A doctorate degree that is concentrated on pediatricians, or another field that is less exciting like surgical tech or radiology would be a benefit to the doctor. Although I believe that doctors ought to be able focus their studies on one particular medical field, it isn’t a requirement that they be interested in other areas. Doctors with a degree in pharmacy are often involved in clinical research and teaching. The degree of a pharmacist does not entail the doctor becoming a patent scientist although it could be helpful in this area if the doctor would like to be one.
There are numerous options in the selection of the right medical specialty. Many doctors decide to continue practicing medicine for a long time before becoming a doctor. Some opt to pursue a doctorate because they feel ready for an academic commitment of a higher level. Whatever the case, doctors are generally very happy with their decision to advance their education and further their career.
